West Highland Way

West Highland Way

The West Highland Way is a 96 miles (154km) stretch that starts off in the town of Milngavie and finishes off in Fort William. On the route, you will take in a great variety of some of Scotland's majestic scenery.

We would recommend that you start off the route at Milngavie as the route does become more demanding the further north you go. The West Highland Way is a challenging route and therefore you need a place to take a break, refuel and restart the journey the next day.

Hostelling Scotland has four youth hostels along the route to rest those weary legs.

Youth Hostels along the route

Rowardennan Lodge
Crianlarich
Glencoe
Glen Nevis

You can be assured of a comfy bed and a cooked breakfast at the youth hostels making for a great start to the day before you continue on the West Highland way

There is also an affiliate hostel, Ben Lomond, as an alternative to our Rowardennan Lodge Youth Hostel ensuring that you will be fully energised to continue on the route.
