Reasons to visit
It's an ideal base for touring or relaxing and for keen walkers and cyclists.
The Great Glen Way passes through the village. One of the most popular long distance walks in Scotland, it usually takes around five days to complete with Fort Augustus one of the main stops on the way.
You can cruise on Loch Ness and try to spot the Loch Ness Monster or visit the Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre and watch the boats navigate their way through the locks.
Inverness and Fort Wiliam are both within an hour's drive, as is the famous Eilean Donan Castle (reputedly the most photographed castle in Scotland).
