The Great Glen Way
Discover the Great Glen Way
The Great Glen Way is a 73 mile (117km) scenic route that starts at Fort William and finishes in Inverness. The journey between Fort William and Inverness is along the natural fault line of the Great Glen which stretches coast to coast, splitting Scotland into the Northwest Highlands to the north and the Grampian Mountains to the southeast. The majority of the walk is low level, making it easier for less experienced walkers and offering a memorable introduction to the Scottish Highlands.
A higher route was introduced in 2014, going through Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit, providing even more impressive views than the more traditional route.
With two youth hostels and three affiliate hostels along the way, you're guaranteed a comfy bed to help recharge the batteries before continuing your journey the next day.
