West Highland Way

West Highland Way

The West Highland Way is a 96 mile (154km) long distance footpath, starting in the town of Milngavie and finishing in Fort William. On the route, you'll experience a huge variety of Scotland's majestic scenery.

We recommend you start your walk at Milngavie, as the terrain does become more demanding the further north you go. The West Highland Way is a challenging route and you'll need a place to take a break, refuel and restart the journey the next day.

Hostelling Scotland has four youth hostels and an affiliate hostel along the route:

  • Rowardennan Lodge
  • Crianlarich
  • Glencoe
  • Glen Nevis
  • Ben Lomond Bunkhouse (affiliate hostel)

You'll get a comfy bed and cooked breakfast, giving you plenty of energy to continue your journey on the West Highland Way.
