Mini Explorers Fund
We ran a successful pilot of the Mini Explorers Fund in 2018. Supported by membership contributions, this was a new fund aiming to give nursery-aged children and their families a valuable break with Hostelling Scotland, as well as the opportunity to have a range of wonderful outdoor experiences and explore a new part of Scotland.
We funded Woodburn Early Learning and Childcare Centre in Falkirk to undertake a trip with their families and they had a fantastic time - from paddling in Loch Lomond to singsongs around the campfire. You can read more about what they got up to here. The trip had a huge impact, with a range of positive outcomes for all those involved.
Following the success of the pilot, we were excited to launch the new Mini Explorers Fund in 2019. This aimed to support groups working with disadvantaged nursery-aged children to have a funded residential trip away with their families, with a key focus on outdoor learning.
So far this year we’ve funded three groups to undertake trips with us. Applications for our first round of funding in 2019 have now closed, but please check back for funding opportunities in the future.
