Torridon Youth Hostel
About About this youth hostel
Winner of the Gold Award in the The Great Outdoors Magazine Awards 2021 for accommodation (Silver Award Winner 2020), Torridon Youth Hostel sits on the NC500 at the head of Upper Loch Torridon and is a popular base for hillwalkers, climbers and those simply wishing to relax and enjoy the surroundings and local wildlife.
Perfect for groups, families and outdoor enthusiasts, this purpose-built hostel offers a range of comfortable accommodation from private rooms to spacious shared dorms. None of the rooms are en-suite but ample shower and washroom facilities are available.
Guests can opt for a continental breakfast served in the hostel’s large dining room (please remember to pre-book), or take advantage of the well-equipped self-catering kitchen. Packed lunches are available for groups of 5+ if booked in advance and 'heat it and eat it' evening meals are available to purchase for your convenience. After a long day in the mountains, you can relax with a local ale, fine malt or glass of wine in the hostel’s comfortable lounge and enjoy the panoramic mountain views.
WiFi is free for all guests and other facilities include a large drying room and laundry. Lockers are available in the rooms but guests are asked to bring their own padlock or purchase one from reception. There is no dedicated bag storage facility at the hostel but the team will be happy to store bags in reception if there is space available. Basic provisions, confectionery and soft drinks are also available to purchase at reception.
The mighty mountain Liathach, with its two munros, spectacular pinnacles and one of the most challenging ridge walks in Scotland, towers above the hostel. Other activities in the area include clay pigeon shooting, archery, kayaking and mountain biking.
