Tobermory Youth Hostel
About About this youth hostel
Located on the main street, surrounded by shops, galleries, bars and restaurants, Tobermory Youth Hostel is one of the many brightly painted buildings sitting on one of Scotland’s most colourful and attractive harbours.
Perfect for groups, families and individual travellers, the hostel offers guests a range of accommodation from private rooms to comfortable shared dorms, many with enviable sea views. None of the rooms are en-suite, but ample shower and washroom facilities are available.
Guests can opt for a continental breakfast in the dining room, watching the fishing boats come and go from the harbour (please remember to pre-book), or take advantage of the well-equipped self-catering kitchen.
WiFi access is free for all guests and other facilities include a comfortable lounge with TV and DVD player, excellent laundry, drying room, and a small enclosed garden at the back with off street cycle parking and a picnic table - ideal for morning coffee or lunch.
Parking is on the main street, but there’s also a car and coach park five minutes’ walk away at the end of Main Street. Currently parking in Tobermory is free.
Curving round a sheltered bay Tobermory is an ideal holiday location for wildlife watchers, hill walkers, seafood enthusiasts - and families. It’s also a great place to base yourself for exploring other areas of the island, whether on bike or on foot.

23/05/22The staff so helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic location. It's a very old building and you have remember this
14/05/22One of the more basic hostels but none the worse for that. Duncan checked us in and also remade a booking for us with the hostel in Oban. Location is in the heart of the town, couple of great pubs nearby (and a distillery!). Lorna was very helpful with local information and advice. A very enjoyable visit and highly recommended.
14/05/22Laura, the manager, was amazing, very accommodating to my needs. Kitchen was open early so I could get my early morning cuppa. Good kitchen, dining room and lounge. Yes, a HOT shower!
14/05/22Friendly, warm and welcoming, and right there on the seafront in Tobermory!
10/05/22Perfect location in Tobermory. We've had the double room with a nice view on the bay. The room was a bit small, but we did'nt need more.
09/05/22Laura was very welcoming- even provided us with some home baking! Fantastic
22/04/22Can't praise the staff enough, top quality service, I will definitely return
20/04/22We arrived on the first opening day after COVID closing. Laura looked after us very well and was an excellent host. This is one of the best hostels in Britain for location in my view.
19/04/22Not normally a hosteller but needed a bed for the night and this came up - comfortable bed, basic but adequate. Very helpful staff. Would return.
17/04/22Good experience, we needed somewhere to stay at short notice and were lucky to find this. It's basic, but clean, very friendly and very good value. Would come again.
18/09/19A small but very well situated hostel and a welcome refuge after a long and wet cycle ride round the island, enjoyed the experience!
13/09/19Very clean and comfortable, with friendly staff in a central location.
12/09/19Stayed two nights at this excellent hostel in Tobermory. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great value for money in a beautiful place - what's not to like?!?!
09/09/19We valued: Welcoming and helpful staff. Central location on harbour-side. Comfortable, peaceful, secure bedroom. Well equipped self catering kitchen. Secure bike storage. Characterful building. Reasonably priced. Thanks Tobermory YH. We'll be back.
03/09/19This is a fantastic location in a beautiful setting with immediate access to local amenities and free/surprisingly easy parking. Good communal facilities including a nice lounge and a dining area that enable us to squeeze in about 50 people for a final Munro meal and celebration. Tobermory has plenty to keep you occupied even on the unheard of damp days. The Mull Museum next door is worth a look and the harbour is a constant source of sights and goings on.
31/08/19Perfect location for exploring the town, felt right at home with everything you could need on your doorstep, including the Tobermory cat :) An excellent hostel.
28/08/19Very nice hostel with a perfect location in the center of Tobermory. The man at the check in was very friendly and helpful (helping to get our cloth dry!) and gave as good tips for visiting Mull. The kitchen is clean and fully equiped. The building is very old , so there is not much space and the bathrooms are a bit small, but the overall experience was really fine. Thank you!
18/08/19We stayed 2 nights. Overall a great experience. The room was a little snug, minor detail. Very good value for the money.

13/08/19Friendly hostel in fantastic location. Has everything you need and nothing you don't need.
09/08/19We arrived very wet and really appreciated being able to dry everything. Warden ‘on the job' full time.. super clean and efficiently run hostel.
07/08/19I visited Tobermory YH after a day walking up Ben More. It was easy to find for a tired walker, and the gent on reception was very pleasant. The location is excellent with good views across the road to the harbour. I would stay again!
06/08/19Perfect location for exploring the Island!
31/07/19Very kind and helpful personnel, great location in the harbour of Tobermory, older but clean and good working facilities
