Year of Stories 2022

What would Mary do?

In support of Scotland’s Year of Stories 2022, we’re delighted to have launched a video inspired by the poignant and insightful diaries written by 17-year-old Mary Harvie, from Shotts, Lanarkshire, in the summer of 1936.

‘What would Mary do?’, is a cycling film that beautifully captures Scotland’s majestic and remote landscapes, environment and natural heritage together with the true spirit of hostelling.

Created by Maciek Tomiczek, it follows Lee Craigie, Phillippa Battye and Alice Lemkes from The Adventure Syndicate, a group of female adventurers who promote mental and physical wellbeing through their outdoor endeavours, as they take on a five-day, 300-mile, cycling and HostelPacking journey, from Glasgow to the Highlands and Skye.
